May 28, 2020 - Metabo Corp. introduces three new cordless brushless reciprocating saws.

Metabo’s new cordless reciprocating saws include the (12V) PowerMaxx SSE 12 BL Compact, the (18V) SSE 18 LTX BL and (18V) SSE 18 LTX BL Compact. These three new reciprocating saws complement Metabo’s current line of reciprocating saws (ASE 18 LTX and SSE 18 LTX Compact).

“The three-new reciprocating use Metabo’s brushless motor technology to produce powerful cutting capacity as well as long tool life and long run times. One feature of the saws is an adjustable shoe and a saw blade that is rotatable by 180° for working in confined spaces. The adjustable shoe allows users to set the cutting depth limit quickly and easily; this is especially useful when cutting into a wall to avoid cutting pipes and wires that lay behind it. Metabo’s “compact” reciprocating saws are the first to have this feature.” said Terry Tuerk, Metabo’s Senior Product Manager.

The (12V) PowerMaxx SSE 12 BL Compact and (18V) SSE 18 LTX BL Compact (18V) include a powerful Metabo brushless motor that delivers up to 3,000 strokes per minute with a stroke length of 5/8”. For versatility, either a reciprocating saw blade or a T-shank jigsaw blade can be inserted, a feature that is unique to the compact models. The PowerMaxx SSE 12 BL Compact (602322890) and SSE 18 LTX BL Compact (602366840) are available as bare models.

The SSE 18 LTX BL has a powerful Metabo brushless motor that delivers up to 2,700 strokes per minute with a stroke length of 1-1/4 in. The SSE 18 LTX BL Kit (US602267550) comes with two 5.5 Ah batteries, a five pack of blades, a charger and carrying case; it is also available as a bare model (602267850).

The new reciprocating saws have a tool-free Quick-change system which makes changing saw blades effortless, and the integrated LED work lights illuminate cutting areas for optimum visibility of the cut area. The ergonomic, angled soft-grip handle and lightweight design reduce fatigue.

June 11, 2019 - Saint-Gobain Abrasives has introduced new Norton Merit Pink R928, a better tier of Flap Wheels and Specialty Abrasives, including cartridge/spiral rolls and square/cross pads that feature a superior ceramic grain for greater efficiency when beveling, blending, cleaning/detailing, deburring and finishing stainless steel and other hard-to-grind materials. A variety of Norton Merit Pink mounted points feature Norton 86A aluminum oxide abrasives, providing an excellent combination of friability and form holding. Click Here for More Information.

For hard-to-reach applications, a poly cotton backing on the Norton Merit Pink R928 Flap Wheels and Specialty Abrasives adds more durability compared to traditional cotton back products. Due to a coating on the grain/ bond that reduces friction for a greater grain holding ability, the R928 line cuts cooler and faster on hard-to-grind materials.

“A clear trend in industry today is the growing use of smaller abrasives. Our new Norton Merit Pink Flap Wheels and Specialties answer this need, as well as provide excellent finishes and increased productivity,” said Mr. Patrick Carroll, Norton | Saint-Gobain Abrasives Senior Product Manager. "When used with our new Handheld Pneumatic Die Grinder, customers have a lightweight, ergonomic grinding solution with more control." The new line is ideally suited for manufacturers across a broad range of industries such as metal fabrication, welding, energy, oil & gas, foundry and castings, MRO and aerospace.

Norton and Merit brands are joining forces to deliver a simpler, comprehensive one-stop shop product portfolio for all specialty abrasives for offhand and portable power tools, within a single "Norton Merit" brand. The Norton Merit Pink line is the first introduction under the new unique branding.

Mini Flap Wheels

Mini Flap Wheels are an ideal choice for a wide variety of blending, deburring and finishing applications. The new Flap Wheels feature an improved resin bond system that extends wheel life and provides less down-time for changeovers. Threaded versions are designed for polishing and finishing intricate surfaces, and are offered in 1 in., 2 in. and 3 in. diameters, mounted on a 1/4 in.-20 thread that enables quick wheel on and off, with no tools required. January 9, 2018 - Weiler Abrasives, Cresco, Pennsylvania, has expanded its offering of small diameter cutting and snagging wheels for high-speed die grinders to include Tiger® AO, Tiger Zirc and Tiger Ceramic. These 2- to 4-inch diameter wheels are designed for long life and fast cutting and join the Wolverine™ value wheels already offered in this category. The 38 item-expansion provides end users in the metal fabrication and ship building industry with increasing levels of cutting performance to meet their needs. Weiler Abrasives will offer the Tiger wheels with 1/4- and 3/8-inch arbor hole sizes.

Weiler’s Tiger AO cutting wheels feature an aluminum oxide grain and provide even, sharp, clean cuts along with a hard bond to extend wheel life when cutting steel. Like the Wolverine wheels, Tiger AO wheels are available in thicknesses of .035, 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 inch.

Weiler Abrasives is offering its high-performance Tiger Zirc cutting wheels in .035-inch thickness. These wheels feature sharp, aggressive zirconia alumina grains that retain a high cut rate throughout the life of the wheel, making them an ideal choice for cutting steels, including structural and cast iron.

For maximum cutting performance, even on stainless steel and hard-to-grind metals, the Tiger Ceramic cutting wheels provide superior life. The self-sharpening grains reduce discoloration by cutting at lower temperatures with less friction and require less effort to use, minimizing operator fatigue. The wheels are available in 1/16-inch thickness.

Weiler Abrasives’ small diameter wheel offering also includes Type 1 Tiger AO and Wolverine AO snagging wheels for die grinders, as well as Type 27 Tiger AO wheels.  This expansion builds on Weiler Abrasives’ offering for die grinders, which includes Tiger Bobcat™ Mini Flap Discs, flap wheels, blending discs and wire end brushes.
